South Dakota Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE)
The Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (“MPRE”) is an ethics exam administered by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (“NCBE”) and not by the state of South Dakota. The MPRE is administered separately from the South Dakota bar exam and is generally tested three times each year in March, August, and November.

MPRE for South Dakota
South Dakota requires an MPRE scaled score of 75 or greater. In its discretion, the Board of Bar Examiners may accept an applicant’s previous score on the MPRE that was administered outside of South Dakota if the test is taken within 25 months prior to the next scheduled bar exam. The score must be 75 or greater. (Regulations of the Board of Bar Examiners, Rule 1.1(5)).
There is no MPRE requirement for South Dakota Admission on Motion.
South Dakota MPRE Scoring Reciprocity/Transfer
South Dakota accepts MPRE scaled scores that were achieved in another jurisdiction.
