Utah Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE)
The Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (“MPRE”) is an ethics exam administered by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (“NCBE”) and not by the state of Utah. The MPRE is administered separately from the Utah bar exam and is generally tested three times each year in March, August, and November.

MPRE for Utah
Utah requires an MPRE scaled score of 86 or greater prior to admission. The MPRE passing score must be achieved within two years of the date of the bar exam. (Rule 14-713). Applicants do not have to take the MPRE prior to the bar exam application.
For out-of-state attorneys seeking Utah Admission on Motion: If the attorney’s home jurisdiction requires the MPRE for Utah attorneys seeking reciprocal admission, then Utah considers this an additional requirement and attorneys must meet the MPRE requirements of their home jurisdiction in order to be admitted on motion in Utah. Utah MPRE Scoring Reciprocity/Transfer
Utah accepts MPRE scaled scores that were achieved in another jurisdiction. Scores must be transferred to Utah directly from the NCBE.
