Vermont Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE)
The Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (“MPRE”) is an ethics exam administered by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (“NCBE”) and not by the state of Vermont. The MPRE is administered separately from the Vermont bar exam and is generally tested three times each year in March, August, and November.

MPRE for Vermont
Vermont requires an MPRE scaled score of 80 or greater. Applicants may use a passing grade from any administration of the MPRE exam in any jurisdiction for a period of seven years from the date of the exam where the score was achieved. (Rules for Admission, § 6(c)). Applicants may sit for the MPRE exam at any time. (Rule for Admission, § 6(a)).
There MPRE is not required for Vermont Admission on Motion.
Vermont MPRE Scoring Reciprocity/Transfer
Vermont accepts MPRE scaled scores that were achieved in another jurisdiction for seven years.
