Arizona Bar Exam Format
The Arizona Bar Exam is the Uniform Bar Exam (“UBE”) and consists of the Multistate Performance Test (“MPT” ), Multistate Essay Exam (“MEE” ) and the Multistate Bar Exam (“MBE” ). Arizona law is not tested on the Arizona bar exam.
MPT (Performance Test)
Arizona tests two (2) MPT performance tests.
MEE (Essays)
Arizona tests six (6) MEE essays. The essays are 30 minutes each.

MBE (Multiple Choice)
Arizona uses the standard MBE. Subjects include:
- Civil Procedure
- Constitutional Law
- Contracts (Common Law, Sales/UCC Art. 2)

- Criminal Procedure
- Evidence
- Real Property
- Torts
UBE and MBE Score Transfer
Arizona accepts UBE scores for those who: (1) Hold a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school; (2) Passed the UBE on a UBE test date; and (3) Achieved a score of 273 or greater.

2 MPTs and 6 MEE Essays
Day 2
Morning – MBE Part I (100 questions; 3 hours)
Afternoon – MBE Part II (100 questions; 3 hours)
Arizona Bar Exam Dates and Application
The Arizona Bar Exam is tested on the last Tuesday and Wednesday of February and July. Applications can be found on the Arizona Judicial Branch’s Website.

Grading
Arizona Bar Exam Weight

Grading Procedure
The Arizona bar exam is graded using scaled scores. The February bar exam results are released in May. The July bar exam results are released in October.
Passing Score
The minimum UBE passing score is 273 or greater.

Review for Applicants Failing the Arizona Bar Exam
The bar exam scores are final and will not be regraded.
Retaking the Arizona Bar Exam
Applicants failing the UBE may apply to take the two subsequent UBE bar exams in Arizona. Applicants must seek permission to take a fourth UBE.
