Indiana Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE)

The Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (“MPRE” ) is an ethics exam administered by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (“NCBE” ) and not by the state of Indiana. The MPRE is administered separately from the Indiana bar exam and is generally tested three times each year in March, August, and November.

Please visit the Ethics Exam/MPRE page for general information about the MPRE and the MPRE application process.

MPRE for Indiana

Indiana requires an MPRE scaled score of 80 or greater for all applicants taking the bar exam before they may be admitted. The MPRE score must achieved within two years before or after the date the applicant successfully takes the Indiana bar exam. (Rules for Admission to the Bar, Rule 17 § 2).

There is no MPRE requirement for Indiana Admission on Motion.

Indiana MPRE Scoring Reciprocity/Transfer

Indiana accepts MPRE scaled scores that were achieved in another jurisdiction.
