New Mexico Bar Exam Format
The New Mexico bar exam is currently the legacy Uniform Bar Exam (“UBE”): two MPTs, six MEE essays, and the MBE. Applicants must attend the mandatory in-person Class in New Mexico Law (day after the exam). New Mexico plans to administer the NextGen UBE beginning July 2027 (legacy through February 2027). Confirm current rules with the Board and NCBE.
MBE Score Transfer
New Mexico does not accept MBE scores transferred from other jurisdictions.
UBE Score Transfer
New Mexico accepts a portable legacy UBE score of 260 or greater, or NextGen UBE 610 or greater, earned within 60 months. NextGen transfers are accepted from July 2026 administrations.

Retaking the New Mexico Bar Exam
