New York Bar Reciprocity

22 NYCRR §520.10 governs Admission on Motion in New York. Applicants must have been engaged in the practice of law (or judicial service / full-time ABA law teaching) for five of the seven years immediately preceding the application and must be admitted in a reciprocating jurisdiction. Additional Requirements

New York Admission on Motion requirements include:

Age. Over 26 years of age.

Law Degree. A J.D. from a law school ABA-approved throughout the applicant’s attendance.

Practice of Law. Practice, judicial service, or full-time ABA faculty work for five of the seven years immediately preceding the application (limited combining rules may apply).

MPRE. Confirm current Appellate Division / BOLE instructions for motion applicants (exam path separately uses MPRE 85).

New York Application Procedure
