Rule 404 of the South Carolina Appellate Court Rules provides the rule regarding admission for attorneys licensed in other jurisdictions who are seeking pro hac vice admission.
Attorneys also cannot file more than six applications for pro hac vice admission in one calendar year because it is considered regularly engaging in the practice of law in South Carolina. This applies to applications pursuant to 404(h), which include the South Carolina Multijurisdictional Practice Rule (MJP) 5.5(c)(3) relating to temporary practice for arbitrations, mediations, and alternative dispute resolutions.
Attorneys are required to file with the tribunal, prior to making an appearance, an Application for pro hac vice admission.
