Many jurisdictions provide special rules for law professors. The limited or temporary licenses allow law professors to practice law without going through the formal admission process of taking the Bar Exam or being Admitted on Motion. Jurisdictions may provide different rules for full-time faculty members and clinical supervising attorneys.
