Article II, Section 8 of the By-Laws of the New Hampshire Bar Association allows limited active membership status for pro bono legal services through the New Hampshire Bar Association Pro Bono Referral System.
New Hampshire Bar members who are not otherwise engaged in the practice of law in any jurisdiction, or attorneys in positions that do not require providing legal advice or services in New Hampshire or any other jurisdiction, may request a Limited Active Membership Status from the New Hampshire Bar – Pro Bono Referral Service.
The limited active membership must be for the sole purpose of providing civil pro bono legal services to the indigent.
The annual membership fee for limited members cannot exceed 10 percent of the active membership fee. The New Hampshire Bar Association may rescind limited membership and strongly encourages such attorneys to volunteer a minimum of 40 hours per year for approved civil legal services through the referral program.
