Kentucky House Counsel

Kentucky Supreme Court SCR 2.111 permits a limited certificate of admission for lawyers licensed elsewhere who practice exclusively for a qualifying Kentucky employer or related entity. Confirm current forms, fees, and deadlines with the Kentucky Office of Bar Admissions.

Eligibility
Applicants generally must be graduates of an ABA-approved law school, be admitted in the highest court of another U.S. jurisdiction, and limit all Kentucky legal work to the employer (and permitted related entities).

Practice and compliance
The limited certificate terminates when employment ends unless the lawyer accepts new qualifying Kentucky employment within 30 days. Court appearances for others remain subject to pro hac vice. See also Kentucky MJP.
