Maryland Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE)

The Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (“MPRE”) is an ethics exam developed by NCBE and administered separately from the Maryland bar exam at Pearson VUE testing centers. The MPRE is generally offered three times each year (March, August, and November).

Please visit the Ethics Exam/MPRE page for general information about the MPRE and registration.

MPRE for Maryland

Maryland requires an MPRE scaled score of 85 or greater prior to admission. Confirm current timing rules with the Maryland admissions office and NCBE.

Attorneys seeking Maryland Admission on Motion must meet the MPRE requirement unless a published exception applies.

Maryland MPRE Scoring Reciprocity/Transfer

Maryland accepts MPRE scaled scores achieved in another jurisdiction when reported through NCBE score services. Request an additional score report for Maryland through NCBE.
