Massachusetts Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE)

The Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (“MPRE”) is an ethics exam developed by NCBE and administered separately from the Massachusetts bar exam at Pearson VUE testing centers. The MPRE is generally offered three times each year (March, August, and November).

Massachusetts requires an MPRE scaled score of 85 or greater prior to admission. Confirm current timing rules with the Massachusetts admissions office and NCBE.

Attorneys seeking Massachusetts Admission on Motion must meet the MPRE requirement unless a published exception applies.

Massachusetts MPRE Scoring Reciprocity/Transfer

Massachusetts accepts MPRE scaled scores achieved in another jurisdiction when reported through NCBE score services. Request an additional score report for Massachusetts through NCBE.
