Rhode Island Law Professors
Article II, Rule(h) of the Rhode Island Supreme Court Rules allows full-time permanent or visiting facutly members of ABA accredited law schoosl to practice law in Rhode Island for the sole purpose of supervising clinical law students in a clinical law program providing assistance to indigent clients. Time spent as a clinical law professor cannot be used for the Rhode Island Modified Bar Exam practice of law requirement.
Rhode Island does not offer Admission on Motion but administers a Rhode Island Modified Bar Exam for attorneys that have engaged in the active practice of law for at least five of the past ten years. Law professors qualify but cannot use the time spent as a clinical law professor in Rhode Island towards the five-year practice requirement.
