For attorneys licensed in United States jurisdictions but not a foreign jurisdiction, the Washington Multijurisdictional Practice Rules (MJP) allow house attorneys to practice in Washington without engaging in the unauthorized practice of law as defined by the Washington Rules of Professional Conduct. More information can be found on Washington’s House Counsel and Multi-Jurisdictional Practice page.
Rule 8(f) of the Admission to Practice Rules allows attorneys licensed in foreign jurisdictions (those outside of the United States) to obtain a limited license to practice law in Washington as house counsel.
