Wisconsin Pro Bono

Rule 10.03(1)-(3) of the Wisconsin Supreme Court Rules provides a membership class of emeritus attorneys.

The class of emeritus attorneys includes those who are either active or inactive members in good standing but who are at least 70 years old and have filed with the executive director a written notice that requests enrollment in the emeritus class. Emeritus attorneys have the privileges of membership in the Wisconsin Bar and are not required to pay membership dues for the years following the year he or she attained the age of 70.

Inactive members who have not actively practiced law in Wisconsin or another state during the past two years cannot transfer to emeritus status until the Board of Bar Examiners certifies that the member has completed the CLE requirements for those transferring to active status and the Wisconsin Supreme Court approves the transfer.
