Colorado House Counsel

Colorado authorizes out-of-state lawyers to practice for a single employer under C.R.C.P. 204.1 (Single-Client Counsel Certification). Confirm current forms, checklists, and fees with the Office of Attorney Admissions / Colorado Supreme Court Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel.

Eligibility
Applicants generally must be actively licensed and in good standing in another U.S. jurisdiction, meet character-and-fitness requirements, declare Colorado domicile as required by the rule, and limit practice to the single client named in the certification (typically a corporate employer). Practice is not authorized until certification is granted.

Practice and compliance
Authorization is limited to that single client; changing employers requires a new application and client certification. Annual registration fees and professionalism/CLE requirements apply as directed by the Office. Report status and employment changes within the rule’s deadlines. Temporary practice for other matters may fall under Colorado MJP / C.R.C.P. 205.1, which does not substitute for single-client certification for domiciled continuous practice.
