Georgia Bar Exam Format

The Georgia bar exam is a non-UBE exam. It consists of two Multistate Performance Tests (“MPT”), four Georgia-drafted essays, and the Multistate Bar Exam (“MBE”). Georgia plans to administer the NextGen UBE beginning July 2028, with a Georgia law component (cut score and transfer policy TBA). Confirm current rules with the Office of Bar Admissions and NCBE.

Georgia does not accept transferred MBE scores or portable UBE scores.

Georgia Bar Exam Dates and Application

The exam is offered in February and July. Applications, fees, and deadlines are on the Georgia Office of Bar Admissions site.

Grading

Passing Score
The minimum combined scaled score is 270.

Retaking the Georgia Bar Exam

Unsuccessful applicants may reapply. Confirm attempt limits with Admissions. Admission on motion is a separate path (see Georgia bar reciprocity).
