Montana Bar Exam Format
The Montana bar exam is currently the legacy Uniform Bar Exam (“UBE”): two MPTs, six MEE essays, and the MBE. Applicants must complete the Montana Law Seminar (MLS) online before admission. Montana plans to administer the NextGen UBE beginning February 2028 (legacy through July 2027). Confirm current rules with the State Bar and NCBE.

MBE Score Transfer
Montana does not accept MBE scores transferred from other jurisdictions.
UBE Score Transfer
Montana accepts a portable legacy UBE score of 266 or greater earned within three years. NextGen transfers are accepted from July 2026; minimum NextGen transfer score TBA.
