New Jersey House Counsel

New Jersey Supreme Court Rule 1:27-2 requires a limited in-house counsel license for lawyers not admitted in New Jersey who work in New Jersey or perform substantial New Jersey-related legal work for a qualifying business entity. Confirm current forms with the NJ Board of Bar Examiners.

Eligibility and practice
Applicants must be admitted elsewhere and meet rule requirements. The limited license authorizes practice for the qualifying employer; occasional out-of-state contact without a New Jersey office may fall under RPC 5.5(b) instead.
