Oklahoma House Counsel

Oklahoma Rules Governing Admission to the Practice of Law Rule Two, Section 5 permits eligible out-of-state lawyers employed full-time by a qualifying Oklahoma employer to receive a Special Temporary Permit without examination. Confirm current forms with the Oklahoma Board of Bar Examiners.

Eligibility
Applicants generally must be Oklahoma residents, be fully qualified to take the Oklahoma bar exam, be admitted in a reciprocal jurisdiction, and devote full-time employment and compensation exclusively to the employer.

Practice
The permit remains effective while qualifying employment continues. It terminates when employment ends or the lawyer leaves Oklahoma unless admitted under another rule. See also Oklahoma MJP and pro hac vice.
