Iowa Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE)

The Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (“MPRE”) is an ethics exam developed by NCBE and administered separately from the Iowa bar exam at Pearson VUE testing centers. The MPRE is generally offered three times each year (March, August, and November).

MPRE for Iowa

Iowa requires an MPRE scaled score of 80 or greater prior to admission. Confirm current timing rules with the Iowa admissions office and NCBE.

Attorneys seeking Iowa Admission on Motion must meet the MPRE requirement unless a published exception applies.

Iowa MPRE Scoring Reciprocity/Transfer

Iowa accepts MPRE scaled scores achieved in another jurisdiction when reported through NCBE score services. Request an additional score report for Iowa through NCBE.
