Louisiana Bar Exam Format

The Louisiana bar exam is a non-UBE, jurisdiction-drafted civil-law exam. It does not use the MBE, MEE, or MPT. The written exam is administered over three days and covers nine Code and Non-Code subject areas (Code subjects are double-weighted). Louisiana has not adopted the NextGen UBE. Confirm current subjects and schedule with the Louisiana Supreme Court Committee on Bar Admissions and NCBE.

MBE / UBE Score Transfer
Louisiana does not accept transferred MBE scores or portable UBE scores.

Grading

Passing Score
Applicants must achieve a weighted score of at least 650 out of 900 under current LASCBA rules. An MPRE score of 80 is also required for admission (confirm timing rules with LASCBA).

Retaking the Louisiana Bar Exam

Unsuccessful applicants may reapply. Louisiana does not offer admission on motion. Confirm attempt limits with LASCBA.
