Louisiana House Counsel

Louisiana Supreme Court Rule XVII, Section 14 permits a limited license for out-of-state lawyers to provide legal services for a Louisiana employer or business organization. Confirm current forms, fees, and deadlines with the Louisiana Committee on Bar Admissions.

Eligibility and renewal
Applicants submit a complete application to the Committee on Bar Admissions. The limited license is valid for four years and may be renewed upon application.

Practice limits
In-house counsel may not appear in Louisiana courts as counsel of record; court appearances require separate admission (including pro hac vice where applicable). See also Louisiana MJP.
