Mississippi Bar Exam Format

The Mississippi bar exam is a non-UBE exam. It consists of two MPTs, six MEE essays, six Mississippi Essay Examination (MSE) essays, and the MBE. Mississippi has adopted the NextGen UBE but has not announced a first-administration date. Confirm current rules with the Board of Bar Admissions and NCBE.

MSE / MPT / MEE / MBE
Typical weights: MBE 40%, MSE 30%, MEE 15%, MPT 15% (confirm current rules).

MBE Score Transfer
Mississippi issues MBE score certifications for use in other jurisdictions; confirm whether Mississippi accepts inbound MBE transfers for sitting applicants.

UBE Score Transfer
Mississippi does not accept portable UBE scores.

Passing Score
Minimum combined scaled score: 132 out of 200.

Retaking the Mississippi Bar Exam

Unsuccessful applicants may reapply. Admission on motion is a separate path (see Mississippi bar reciprocity).
