Mississippi Bar Reciprocity

Rule VI of the Rules Governing Admission to the Mississippi Bar governs admission on motion by comity and reciprocity. The applicant’s home jurisdiction must grant similar privileges to Mississippi attorneys, and the applicant must have engaged in the active practice of law for at least five years after admission in reciprocating jurisdiction(s). See the Board’s Admission on Motion page and reciprocal jurisdictions PDF.

Reciprocity

Mississippi publishes a list of reciprocating jurisdictions. Stricter home-jurisdiction rules or fees may apply via Rule VI §5. The Board decides whether another jurisdiction grants “similar privileges.”
