New York Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE)

The Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (“MPRE”) is an ethics exam developed by NCBE and administered separately from the New York bar exam at Pearson VUE testing centers. The MPRE is generally offered three times each year (March, August, and November).

MPRE for New York

New York requires an MPRE scaled score of 85 or greater prior to admission. Confirm current timing rules with the New York admissions office and NCBE.

Attorneys seeking New York Admission on Motion must meet the MPRE requirement unless a published exception applies.

New York MPRE Scoring Reciprocity/Transfer

New York accepts MPRE scaled scores achieved in another jurisdiction when reported through NCBE score services. Request an additional score report for New York through NCBE.
